John D “ Jack “ Hollingsworth Sr.

Jack grew up in Vicksburg, Ms and at the age of 17 he got married, quit school and got a job while his 14 year old bride remained in school. 

Jack joined the Vicksburg Police Department in 1977 and retired in 1988. During his tenure as a police officer, he started singing and playing country music. He shared the stage with several “ greats “ such as Hank Williams Jr. and Mel Tillis. Jack finally made it to Nashville only to realize that without a lot of money and contacts, it is almost impossible to be successful. With so many people who had invested time and money into his  country music career and not knowing how to “ let them down easy “, Jack decided to quit singing and ask God to handle his investors.

 Later God put an old friend of Jacks back into his life. Cecil Goodin wanted Jack to record some of his songs. Agreed and back to Nashville. Jack and Cecil had completed two projects when Cecil and his wife Pauline were killed in an auto accident. Cecil’s first cousin, J.C. Baker then grabbed Jack and, you guessed it, back to Nashville for one more CD project.

 J.C. Passed away about a year later. At this stage of Jack’s music career, all he wanted to do was serve God with his music. God has surely blessed him with a singing voice and  many testimonials after the loss of Cecil, Pauline and J.C. 

One highlight in Jack’s Christian music career was the numerous performances shared with Louisana’s Governor Jimmy Davis. This “ Old Man “ was surely an inspiration to so many.

Jack is presently a Parole Officer for the Mississippi Department of Corrections, hopefully retiring in a few years. He and Linda have been married for forty five years and have two children and two grand children .
